Features
VarX MockTests is built around one idea: the first time you meet a CBT interface should not be on exam day. Here is what the platform actually does.
The exam interface
- Live countdown timer — The remaining time is always on screen and keeps running if you switch questions or refresh the page. The clock is driven by the attempt's server-recorded start time, not by a browser timer you could reset.
- Colour-coded question palette — Jump to any question directly. Answered, not answered, not visited and marked-for-review states are colour coded exactly like a real CBT paper.
- Save & Next, Clear Response, Mark for Review — The same three controls used in most government CBT papers, so the muscle memory you build here transfers on exam day.
- On-screen calculator — A standard calculator panel you can open without leaving the question, for numerical-answer papers.
- Automatic answer saving — Each answer is written to your attempt as you select it. Closing the tab, losing signal or reloading does not cost you the answers you already gave.
- No hard cut-off — When the timer hits zero the paper stays open and your real submission time is recorded, so you can finish and still see exactly how far over the limit you were.
After the test
- Instant scoring — Score, percentage, accuracy, attempted vs skipped and total time are calculated the moment you submit.
- Question-by-question review — For every question you see the option you chose, the correct option and the written explanation or hint attached to that question.
- Attempt history — Every attempt stays in My attempts so you can reopen an old result and compare it with a later run of the same test.
- Public leaderboards — Published tests show a ranking with display name, marks, time taken and missed questions. Email addresses are never shown anywhere on the platform.
- Feedback on the paper — After submitting you can flag a wrong answer key or an unclear question directly from the result page.
Practise your own material
- PDF to practice test — Upload one or more question-paper PDFs and the platform extracts questions, options, answers, hints and diagrams into a playable timed test.
- Diagram cropping — Figures are detected and cropped from the page so a diagram-based question shows the diagram, not the whole scanned sheet.
- Private by default — A test you create is visible only to you until you deliberately turn on a share link.
- Optional share links — Turn on sharing to get an unlisted link you can send to a study group. Shared tests are excluded from the public library and from search indexing.
Practical bits
- Works on phone, tablet and laptop — The exam interface is responsive; the palette collapses on small screens instead of being cut off.
- Browser notifications — Optional push notifications for new tests and announcements. You can decline and keep using everything else.
- Free to use — The mock tests and PDF practice tools are free. The site is supported by advertising, which is kept out of the answering area during an active test.
